	When I add entries for external specimen scans to our catalog, I prefer using reliable sources, where links are likely to remain valid for many years to come. An example are national archives, which provide permanent URLs specifically for that purpose. I also trust links to the Internet Archive or the websites of organisations like The Letterform Archive, St. Bride Library and so on.
</p>

<p>
	I have so far excluded Flickr albums as it is a paid private service and any user uploading images could easily just leave the platform at any time, making all albums they uploaded inaccessible. But there are some interesting type specimen albums on this platform.
</p>

<p>
	So should it be included as a source worth cataloging?

	All Kickstarter supporters are registered with the email address they used on Kickstarter and a generic display name like “supporter 01”. Please open the user menu in the top right corner and choose “Account Settings” to update your profile settings.
</p>

<p>
	From there you can change your <a href="https://letterlibrary.org/settings/username/" rel="">username</a>, which is called “Display Name” in our system.
</p>

<p>
	You can also upload a profile image from the “Profile” page.

	You are the first to check out the Letter Library project during this closed beta!
</p>

<p>
	A few notes:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		The Letter Library consists of two main sections: Core and Viewing. In the Core section we collect data around all published type specimens. There is the main publication database and secondary databases for related data like typefaces, publishers, and type designers. All records in these databases are permanent and they have a unique identifier, which can be used to mention a publication in academic works.
	</li>
	<li>
		The Viewing section is where the actual type specimens are shown or linked (when they are only available on other websites). You can view PDFs and videos, image galleries of scanned type specimens and so on. I am currently adding records every day.
	</li>
	<li>
		At the moment, the focus of this beta test is checking out the functionalities in regards to browsing the website and viewing the entries. Creating new records is already possible, but I do not recommend it yet. Please wait until I have written articles explaining the process and the requirements.
	</li>
</ul>
