Fabel, the animal typeface // LLC81

Original credits: An animal typeface that lets the animal dictate the shape of the letter, instead of using an existing font and adding added tails and whiskers. Fabel has no clipped wings and no cropped tails, each animal is showcased at it’s best: wings spread, feathers ruffled, claws sharp and backs straight. With the diversity of Earth’s wildlife in a full Latin character set with both upper and lower case, Fabel fills out the ABC, from the A of Anteater to the Z of Zander. Animation by Francois Cauderlier, at Calango.

    Rezak // LLC64

Original credits: Say hello to Anya Danilova’s Rezak font family, a jaunty and daring Latin and Cyrillic typeface that includes an incised version and icons — a full-fledged design for logotypes, packaging, movies, children’s books, and gaming. Nothing is hidden in the simplistic forms and overt aesthetic of Anya Danilova’s Rezak font family. Rezak is not a type family directly from the digital world, but was inspired by the stout presence of cutting letters out of tangible material: paper, stone, and wood. With only a few cuts, the shapes remain dark and simple. With more cuts, the shapes become lighter and more defined, resulting in a dynamic type family not stuck within one specific category. Rezak includes a total of ten styles: four weights and matching italics for text setting (Regular, Semibold, Bold and Extrabold), and the Black and Incised display styles. All ten styles cover two scripts, Latin and Cyrillic. Type Design: Anya Danilova Motion Design by: Cecilia Brarda

    Introducing Aneto // LLC63

Original credits: As one of the most widely applicable creations from José Scaglione and Veronika Burian, the Aneto and Aneto Text font families are long-awaited editorial polymaths, able to quell the territory of thought and page design with a peaceful force. This memorable serif results in flawless screen rendering, warm print production, and smooth readability. Displaying lessons learned from several hundred years of pedigree, the Aneto family has a taller x-height and enlarged counters for better readability, but shortened ascenders and descenders to pack in more letters per line. Aneto Text and Aneto are two families built upon the same skeleton and distinguished by their letter contrast to guide their appropriate use. The variable font versions reinforce correct usage with their two axes: character weight and optical size. Design: José Scaglione & Azza Alameddine & Roxane Gataud & Veronika Burian Motion design: Cecilia Brarda

Sweet Release by Danielle Evans // LLC19

Original credits: “To mark the expansion of our multiscript Bree family, our friend Danielle Evans has created the sweetest video you’ll see this year — customary confections all painstakingly made by hand in the script of selected regions. Bree has expanded again — we’ve added Arabic, Thai, advanced Pinyin support, and refined our Vietnamese diacritics. To celebrate all this, we asked the incredibly talented Danielle Evans (Marmalade Bleue) to create a video showing off the opulence that is Bree in the sweetest way. Imbibe in the two brand new scripts, refined Vietnamese and Pinyin support, and all the deliciousness your eyes can handle! Our thanks also goes to Studio Z for sound design and Cecilia Brarda for finishing touches.”
